Knox County, the Cities of Bicknell and Vincennes, and the Towns of Bruceville, Decker, Edwardsport, Monroe City, Oaktown, Sandborn, and Wheatland are better prepared for disasters with FEMA’s recent approval of a Multi Hazard Mitigation Plan.
As a long-term strategy to reduce the community’s vulnerability to natural disasters, the plan identifies hazards and potential hazards in Knox County and creates a framework to help community officials make decisions that may ultimately protect lives and property.
The plan also outlines a strategy for implementing mitigation projects inside the County by taking proactive steps to lessen the impact of future disasters and the costly expenses associated with them.
