Indiana’s First Human Case of West Nile Virus for 2024 Confirmed

Indiana’s first human case of West Nile virus this year has been confirmed in a Lake County resident.

The Indiana Department of Health says the virus has been found in mosquitoes in 15 separate counties around the state so far in 2024.

Most people who test positive for West Nile have mild flu-like symptoms, but it can kill people in some cases.
