Vigo Co. Sheriff John Plasse Dead at 60

Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse died Wednesday morning at the age of 60 following a battle with cancer.

Sheriff Plasse was elected Vigo County Sheriff in 2018 and began his term of office January 1st, 2019.

Sheriff Plasse retired in November 2017 as Sergeant Major with the 38th Infantry Division in the Indiana Army National Guard where he served for 34 years.

Sheriff Plasse retired from the Terre Haute Police Department in 2018 after 33 years of service including his last 11 years as Chief of Police.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
