A Jasper woman has been sentenced to federal prison for embezzling over $154,000 in likely donations for the Jasper community.
62-year-old Michele Rose was employed as Medical Staff Coordinator at a nonprofit health care organization headquartered in Jasper.
She oversaw a medical staff checking account funded by physicians used for donations to various community initiatives.
Between March 2011 and December 2020, Rose wrote over $154,000 in fraudulent checks to herself out of the account, claiming the money was intended to reimburse her for legitimate business expenditures.
Rose then cashed the checks and used the money for personal living expenses.
Rose was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, ordered to repay the money, and serve one year of supervised release upon her release from prison.
