The Statlers Brothers won Vocal Group of the Year, songwriters Jeff Silbar and Larry Henley won the Song of the Year award for their ballad “Wind Beneath My Wings”, Ricky Skaggs Band scored a second-in-a-row win for Instrumental Group of the Year, Lee Greenwood won Male Vocalist of the Year and Reba McEntire won Female Vocalist of the Year.
