As the holiday season approaches, the Knox County Health Department urges parents and caregivers to be vigilant about toy safety.
In 2022, nearly 210,000 toy-related injuries were treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments, with 11 fatalities involving children 12 years and younger.
Common Toy-Related Injuries in Children include choking hazards, falls due to riding toys, and eye injuries due to toys like BB guns, water guns and projectile toys.
Also, toys such as balls, scooters, and bicycles can lead to motor vehicle accidents if children run into streets while playing.
