The Vincennes Board of Works has approved a new system to show train movements across the city in real time.
The city has approved the installation of cameras at Second Street, 15th Street, Hart Street, Main Street, Washington Avenue, and Saint Clair Street.
Overall, nine separate cameras will cover those crossings.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the cameras will help drivers determine open crossings, if a train is stopped in town.
Interfact will install the cameras for nine thousand dollars for the first year, with 45-hundred dollars in maintenance each year after that.
The train camera system is similar to a system in Muncie, Indiana.
